There's a Movement and It's Happening in your Backyard
It's falling on the mountains
And is flowing through rivers
And the sky
It falls on your heart and drops through your tears
To the rhythm of your soul
The walk of your steps
It's the worms and nematodes
The mycelium branching in all directions
It's a breath
Walking wandering limbs
Limbs of one body
Sky people earth people
Fire people water people
Strong people
Standing
Standing together for the Rio
Y los Rios en todo el Mundo
En cada dirección
En el norte y en el sur
Y el poniendo y el saliendo
Es un bienvenidos
De las casas de los corazones
De la vida
Bailando
Viviendo
Y rezando con los sonidos de la Tierra
De nuestro cuerpo
Our body
One body
Alive
Breathing in her wakefulness
Her fierceness
With undying and unceasing grace
She's moving
She's returning
La serpiente
Y el jaguar
La medicina de 3ste tierra y las indígenas
De las montañas
Y el fuego que vive en el centro de toda
There's a movement
And it lives in your hands
Planting indigenous seed
Cultivating our soil and loving our body
Holding our people
Plant people
Four leggeds
Sky beings
And the waters that bind us all in her irrefutable heartbeat
Her infinite yearning longing commandment
To be one again
To be seen alive again
To bust through concrete and asphalt
Shredding barbed wire
And returning like the thunder of a heard buffalo
Stampeding into their lands that once were
and Crashing like a bloom of flowers in the hearts of every being
There's a movement
And it's happening in your backyard
In your children's hands and their smiles
As they catch snakes and bugs
Pluck fresh vegetables from a community garden
And feed a healthy compost pile
It's in every meal and every moment
Every hand and every smile
Every step that we take
Closer
Closer to her
It starts with out waters
Our borders the cuts across the lands and through people
It starts through movements like this
Demanding our local politicians recognize the consciousness of our watershed
Our soil our own cells
Demanding we initiate projects locally, regionally and nationally to revitalize our ecosystems.
Write your congressmen and state representatives
Urge the creation of jobs in management and stewardship of our great lands
A full dedication the the rights of nature and of all people
Support our local indigenous brothers and sisters
Help keep alive our intact traditions
It requires all of us loving our neighbors
Finding our village and our people right at our doorsteps
In our backyards yearning to be loved and respected.
Our hearts yearning to feel connected
Love is action and intention synthesize
Love is a dream actualized
Love is waking up at 3am because the plants in the yard called out to you in your sleep, "Were freezing."
Love is this resistance.
So walk
Walk for Leonhard Peltier
For the Rio Grande
For all bodies of water in this world
and For all species
And prove this life worthy of our respect
Our devotion
And take any piece any inspiration and run with it
Rewild. Revive. Return home to this earth and take a step on the 1000 mile journey home
